If you've ever been "In Love", then you know that it is a very powerful emotion. So powerful that it can, on occasion, cause you to do things you would not do when sober. Yes, love has an intoxicating effect on our lives. And I suppose that is why I write so many poems about it. In fact, every poem on this website is about love. Whether the love of another person, Ireland, an animal, or baseball, or even a snow-covered tree, which I happened to see, they are all love letters. These poems are about love and how our lives can be changed by it's presence or absence or loss. I hope you enjoy them.
"When you love someone you do not love them all the time, in exactly the same way, from moment to moment. It is an impossibility. It is even a lie to pretend to. And yet this is exactly what most of us demand. We have so little faith in the ebb and flow of life, of love, of relationships." ~ Anne Morrow Lindbergh (wife of Charles Lindbergh)
