Travel Photos 2008 I took two trips in 2008 to meet online friends in Virginia and Mississippi
My vacation of 2003 fulfilled my dream to visit all 50 of the states. The three states I needed were Arkansas, Louisiana, and Mississippi. However, another dream was fulfilled on this vacation also. I got to see my Cubs play at Wrigley Field. The photo above was taken by another Cubs fan at my seat behind the Cubs dugout. Another highlight of this vacation was visiting my children and grandchildren in Florida. My day with them in The Everglades will remain with me always. Bryant, Daniel, Melissa, and Catherine, thank you for a great time.
Twenty-four states, 12,118 miles through forests, over rivers and mountains, through deserts, down into canyons, over waterfalls and around lakes. This was the dream vacation of my life. (I'm standing on a glacier in Glacier N.P.) I'm ready to do it again. Follow me!
I've found the U.S. Interstate Highway System great for getting from point A to point B in a relatively short period of time. But if you really want to see this great, beautiful country of ours, you have to travel the old U.S. and State highways. My trip covered 2997 miles, and over 2000 of them were off the Interstates.
