Where you are now I do not know
your face is in my memory though
I know your beauty lies within
I wish to hear your voice again
So wasted were our days of youth
on outer beauty, not the truth
As our hearts listened to our eyes
which told the conscience all those lies
You offered friendship and your trust
I turned it down and ran for lust
I craved the outward beauty then
Wisdom came late, I know not when
Too late for me to recognize
that look of hope beneath your eyes
Agnes, from God, you truly were
a gift of inner beauty rare
Aggie, where'er you are today
may happiness come 'round your way
the sun shine warm upon your face
and Angels bless you with their grace
Music is "Aubrey"
Some times there is a diamond hidden inside. This was the case with Aggie. She was, as the song states, "a not so ordinary girl". In my youth I couldn't see that. This poem is for all the "not so ordinary" girls in ordinary packages. We should learn sooner to take a closer look.
