Sometimes it's just too damned depressing
late at night when I'm undressing
without that someone there to watch me.
That special someone who should be.
There've been other someones through the years.
Watch me undress and calm my fears,
but they've all left me feeling hollow,
dry of throat, and hard to swallow.
There's only one who watches me right,
only one woman to spark my night.
Hundreds of miles and years away,
she alone could fill up my day.
I think of her while I get undressed,
of how we loved and all the rest.
A prayer for her health and happiness,
and for her soul, that God will bless.
Events block our being together,
but join our hearts with a tether
so long it reaches 'round the earth.
Giving us and our love new birth.
So maybe before my Senior years
she'll come dry away all my tears;
and watch me again as I undress,
and give my life a little less stress.
