~THEODORE ROOSEVELT NATIONAL PARK~

Theodore Roosevlt national Park is divided in two parts. The south unit is the part that I visited. It is located just north of I-94. To say this place is beautiful would be an understatement of excess. Nature has done a masterful job over the last 60 million years. Scenic Loop Drive, which I drove through the park is about 65 miles or so of road winding around, up and down dfferent parts of the park.So you will see photos from the basin up at the peaks and some of the basin from the peaks. I drove around the park for about four and a half hours. I could easily spent days there. Come see what I mean.

This is Painted Canyon as I saw it from the Painted Canyon Overlook even before I entered the park. Scroll --->

This from the Scenic Loop in the Canyon

Rock formations abound

One of the campsite areas

The Little Missouri River valley

Erosion at work

The Little Missouri River (nearly dry in August)

The red rock is caused by iron content

More erosion by wind and rain

Cap rock which has broken off

And some more cap rock pieces

Coal deposits are throughout the park

In the Little Missouri valley

Did you notice the clear blue skies in the above photos?

Music is "Tuesday Afternoon"
Because it was, and the words tell it, as it was.

NOTE: The words to Tuesday Afternoon:
Tuesday Afternoon (Forever Afternoon)
by The Moody Blues

Tuesday afternoon,
I'm just beginning to see, now I'm on my way.
It doesn't matter to me, chasing the clouds away.

Something calls to me.
The trees are drawing me near, I've got to find out why?
Those gentle voices I hear, explain it all with a sigh.

I'm looking at myself, reflections of my mind.
It's just the kind of day to leave myself behind.
So gently swaying through the fairyland of love.
If you'll just come with me, you'll see the beauty of

Tuesday afternoon, Tuesday afternoon

Tuesday afternoon,
I'm just beginning to see, now I'm on my way.
It doesn't matter to me, chasing the clouds away.

Something calls to me.
The trees are drawing me near, I've got to find out why?
Those gentle voices I hear, explain it all with a sigh.
Moody Blues
