~Kennedy Space Center 2006~

I made two trips to Florida and the Kennedy Space Center in 2006. The first was mainly to view the art works of my grandson, Bryant, on display there. The second was mainly a visit to the Merritt Island Wildlife Refuge, which coexists with the Space Center. During that second visit the Space Shuttle Atlantis was on the launch pad awaiting a launch to the International Space Station. The following photos were taken during these two visits.

The Merrit Island Wildlife Refuge and Kennedy Space Center lie side by side near the Canaveral National Seashore on the Alantic coast in Florida. Although much wilderness was destroyed in the building of the Space Center a great deal of effort has gone into preserving the rest of the area. Black Point Wildlife Drive is one of my favorite places to visit when in Florida. I have a pages dedicated to this area HERE andHERE. USS Enterprise a mockup of the Space Shuttle Main fuel tank and booster rockets for the Shuttle Part of our space heritage displaying rockets and space capsules from the past. These four photos were taken from different places and angles along the drive to Canaveral National Seashore. The shuttle itself is behind the main fuel tank and booster rockets. Only the white leading edge of the wing can be seen near the launch tower. These two vertical shots are fuzzy due to the heat waves arising from the ground and surrounding water. The photos were taken in August and it was in the mid 90s. Humidity about 120%. Or so it seemed.
