~ Through the Eyes of My Youth ~

I look at the world
Through the eyes of my youth
And it looks much the same
To me is the truth

The mountains and rivers on end
And trees with their beauty so fair
Arrest my attention as then
The magnificent colors still there

The days of my youth have fled
And left me alone in my years
The visions of hope are not dead
For hope conquers my fears

I wander and roam all around
Seeing all I can see
Watching the wonders abound
Through the eyes of a child of three

I still see this world
As the ending draws near
Through those eyes of my youth
Save, when I look in a mirror.
